FAQs

Who is Next Stage suitable for?
Our Minis classes are suitable for boys and girls aged 4-6 (preschool, junior and senior infants) while our Main School caters for age 6-13 (1st class and upwards). Our Naas Friday School also caters for students in secondary school up to 18 years.

Do many boys attend?
Yes! We have always had many boys who attend Next Stage, and we love having them there!

What does my child need to bring to class?
Students should bring a bottle of water (or another drink) and wear comfy clothes and shoes.

Can I stay with my child?
We operate a parent-free zone in class. From our experience, we have found that children socialise better with their peers and are more focused when their parents are not present in sessions. Evelyn and the team will always update you on their progress and will, of course, phone you if there are any problems. You are welcome to stay nearby, and can always text Evelyn to see how they are getting on!

Do the children do shows?
We invite parents in to see showcase performances once or twice per year at the end of terms, as well as preparing for a full show in a theatre once every two years. However, this is not the sole aim of our theatre school: we want to build children’s confidence, and instil them with a love of performance and a wealth of creativity. This is just as important as our performances, sometimes more so!

Do students do exams?

Once every two years, we prepare students for group Musical Theatre exams with the Irish Board of Speech and Drama, where groups perform MT pieces for the external examiner. We also prepare children for individual Grade Drama exams with the Irish Board of Speech and Drama – these exams are a great opportunity for students to work towards poems, monologues, songs and dances and perform for someone who isn’t their parent or teacher, and we encourage everyone to take part! Parents and children can choose to opt out if they wish.

Can I pay weekly?
We offer a Pay As You Go taster session on your child’s first week, so you can make sure they like it before you commit! This costs €10 for Minis and €15 for Main School, which is then deducted from the term’s fees if your child decides to continue. Unfortunately you cannot pay weekly after that, but you can pay in two installments during the term if that suits you better.

Can I pay online?
All deposits and full payments are by bank transfer or Paypal.
